Inside the Ford Focus, there is comfortably space for up to five adults. It’s clear to see the high quality materials and attention to detail including the three-spoke steering wheel which has been ergonomically designed with the driver in mind. Every button and control is at your fingertips and the position of the wheel improves both the usability and visibility of your car’s instrument panel. The centre console incorporates a space for smartphones and other mobile devices. It has a USB port for connectivity and power too, and a rubber mat to help securely hold your items. For comfort there is also the option of a heated steering wheel.
When it comes to technology, the SYNC3 system is the most advanced to date. It’s fast, easy to use and features enhanced voice commands and lots of functionality. The interface has larger buttons for improved usability and the colour Touchscreen features pinch-and-swipe 3. SYNC 3 also features AppLink, Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto and has the ability to display your smartphone’s information on the touchscreen. The Ford KeyFree System lets you lock and unlock your vehicle, without having to take your key out of your pocket or bag. MyKey® lets you set the maximum speed limit, set a seatbelt reminder and even the volume of the audio system. The technology is designed to give you peace of mind if you lend your vehicle to a friend or family member, as you can programme the restrictions you want to set for that key and you can keep the unrestricted ‘admin’ key for yourself. It’s a car design for the forward thinking.
The Ford Focus features a variety of driver-assistance technologies including auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Cross Traffic Alert, Active City Stop and Active Park Assist. The innovative auto-dimming rear-view mirror automatically detects headlight glare and switches to a dimmed setting meaning that you’re not constantly dazzled by the lights of the vehicles behind. Auto-Start-Stop works to help you consume less fuel. When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system. Cross Traffic Alert detects oncoming vehicles and sounds a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror, either left or right depending on the direction of the oncoming traffic. Active City Stop helps the driver avoid a collision in slow-moving traffic or at speeds of up to 30mph. It does this by continually measuring the distance to the vehicle in front. If the system detects the vehicle in front has unexpectedly reduced speed, it automatically applies the brakes. Active Park Assist steers you into parking spaces just 20% longer than your vehicle. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. The Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Whether the signs are at the side of the road or overhead, permanent or temporary and that’s not all, there are more Ford Focus’ driving assistance features.
A version of the surprisingly powerful 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will offer sub-100 g/km CO2 emissions: the first non-hybrid, petrol family car in Europe to do so. Normally only found on high end sports cars, Paddle Shifters are available with your Focus. This racing-inspired technology puts swift, effortless gear changes at your fingertips. The 1.5-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine provides low emissions and fuel economy without compromising on power and handling.
The innovative Ford Eco Mode system continually assesses the effects of your driving behaviour on your fuel consumption. The system analyses your speed, gear shifting, braking and anticipation levels, plus the number of short and long journeys you make.
