Plug-in Hybrid The Volvo Recharge range includes a plug-in hybrid option across the full Volvo line-up. A plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) combines a traditional combustion engine alongside a battery-powered electric motor. The electric motor is charged by being plugged in and also through regenerative braking during your drive. With plug-in hybrid vehicles, you also have the opportunity to travel in pure electric mode for shorter journeys. Mild Hybrid Volvo has a mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) on selected models. MHEV vehicles have a traditional combustion engine which is supported by a small electric motor to help enhance fuel efficiency and produce fewer emissions. These vehicles are charged by regenerative braking only.
