Combining electric efficiency with all the capabilities of a modern SUV, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV leads the Plug-in Hybrid SUV market with its array of unique and outstanding qualities.
The exterior of the Outlander PHEV is bold in size, yet slick and subtle in style. The body lines are simple and streamlined for maximum efficiency on the road, whilst the front bumper design is bold, imposing and encases the model’s impressive line-up of headlights, sensors, day time running lights and fog lamps. The Shark fin antenna and colour-keyed rear spoiler support aerodynamic performance, with the electric folding mirrors (with side indicators) adding some refinement. The two-tone multi-spoke 18” alloy wheels give the model a signature touch.
The interior of the Outlander PHEV is spacious and comfortable, comprising quality upholstering and useful in-car features throughout. Subtly stitched cloth/leather seats come as standard in the Juro/4h versions – each including fast-activating heated front seats with adjustable controls, and heated steering wheels – whilst the attention to detail is further displayed through the dual zone climate control air conditioning, rear USB socket and multi-information display. The driver’s seat can be adjusted in up to 8 ways, with the rear seats designed to recline, split and fold to create an even larger boot space. The electronic parking brake and central storage area give a tidy appearance, whilst also providing useful functionality.
The latest in-car entertainment is available through the multi-function Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) system. The state-of-the-art touchscreen is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing access to your apps, music and podcasts as well as hands-free phone calls via Bluetooth. Innovative technological features are also used to increase safety and support for the driver and passengers; including a 360 degree parking camera, adaptive cruise control and LED hi-beam headlamps. Super all-wheel control in 4WD ensures the PHEV is prepared to tackle all weather and road conditions, whilst regenerative braking can capture the kinetic energy from braking to charge the electric battery.
The Outlander PHEV is capable of up to 33 miles of purely electric driving (28 miles WLTP), with instant torque and a top speed of 83mph. It can switch effortlessly (and automatically) between electric, hybrid and parallel hybrid driving. It contains a 2.4L Atkinson Cycle engine which works in conjunction with the Lithium-ion battery. This dual engine performance ensures responsive acceleration, excellent fuel economy of up to 159mpg and an impressively smooth drive. The battery can be charged to 80% capacity in just 25 minutes, from both standard plug sockets and specialised home chargers – as well as from public charging stations. With incredible low CO2 emissions of just 40g/km, the PHEV receives favourable tax benefits and qualifies for the government’s plug-in car grant.
