1) EVs aren't good for long distances - The 200-mile range of mid-priced EVs is suitable for most daily commutes, but longer trips might require planning or charging stops. Consider your driving habits and charging access before choosing an EV.
2) Electric cars are too expensive - In the long run, the total cost of ownership for an Electric vehicle is much cheaper. You may see higher upfront costs than a petrol or diesel model but you could save up to £650 a year in tax and fuel. Studies show a 70% reduction in maintenance costs for EVs compared to petrol vehicles, thanks to their reduced complexity.
3) Electric car batteries take too long to charge - This isn't actually the case. With the use of rapid chargers these can add as much as 80% of charge in as little as 30 minutes. This is dependent on the type of charger used.

BMW eMobility service, BMW Charging, provides access to over 10,000 partner charging stations across the UK. These include public charging provided by BP Pulse, plus access to high-power charging stations from IONITY.
BMW’s partner IONITY provides high-power electric charging stations for ultrafast charging along Europe’s main transit routes. The technology of the high-performance electric vehicle charging stations automatically optimises the charging speed to the maximum that your high-voltage battery allows. So a short coffee break is usually enough to sufficiently recharge your vehicle!
Thanks to the BP Pulse Wallbox, BMW i drivers can charge their cars up to 70% faster than when using a conventional 3-pin socket.
All New BMW i models now come with two cables:
✔ Standard BMW charging cable, which is five metres long and can plug into any conventional 3-pin socket.
✔ BMW AC Fast Charging Cable (Type 3) – for recharging at public AC Fast Charging Stations.
