The ŠKODA Yeti is the most adventure hungry member of the ŠKODA range. It combines the rugged styling of a modern 4x4 with the practicalities of a family car.
The exterior of the Yeti makes it stand out. Its protective grille give its neat face a more muscular appearance and it has chunky bumpers and skid plates to the rear. This new facelift model has been refreshed to incorporate the likes of redesigned headlights with integrated LED's, a distinct grille and new alloy wheels, making way for something altogether more stylish.
Notably, the most apparent changes are to the front and rear of the car. The former centrally displayed lights have been changed to include a set of square headlights and foglights that are fitted lower down on the front bumper, while at the rear; the modifications are somewhat less manifest but include newly designed taillights and triangular styling creases on each side of the registration plate to emulate the Rapid and Octavia.
Both versatile and roomy, there is plenty of space inside the Yeti and it has impressive leg and headroom making the cabin fell light and spacious. Its flexible Varioflex seating is extremely comfortable and with its large boot you can load up your shopping or sports equipment. Inside, the new Yeti also features a new three-spoke steering wheel, different seat fabric options, new dash inserts to brighten up the cabin as well as an optional rear-view camera, an automatic reverse-parking system and KESSY keyless entry start and exit system.
Perfectly at home off-road and on, the Yeti is the ideal solution for adventure seekers. At the touch of a button, it converts into a highly capable off-road vehicle tackling hills and uneven surfaces with ease. It uses the latest technologies including a hill descent system, a clever push-button off-road setting which softens throttle response and tweaks the traction control and ABS for loose surfaces. A Rough Road Package is also available as an option.
The exterior has not only received a restructure in terms of design but now also boasts ŠKODA's new monochrome badge, four new metallic paint colours; Metal Grey, Moon White, Jungle Green and Magnetic Brown on top of two new trim levels; Outdoor and City.
In view of the car's extensive appeal, both adaptations include different design features to let owners make the most of the Yeti in their chosen driving environment. For ŠKODA this has meant splitting the range down the middle. 'City' Yetis feature the two-wheel drive, while the 4x4 'Outdoor' models have improved approach and departure angles in their four-wheel drive.
In the engine and transmission arrangements it is now possible to twin the 2.0 TDI with all-wheel drive and the six-speed dual clutch transmission, while the front-wheel drive Yeti 1.6 TDI can come with the seven-speed DSG automatic box. The outdoor version of this car features strong plastic cladding and more evident underbody protection while the city edition showcases body-coloured bumpers and side sills to create a chicer 'city' look.
There are various models grades to choose from depending on what specification you are looking for – E, S, SE, SE Plus and Elegance. There is also a broad range of engines (including the 2.0 TDI) and trim choices. The Yeti range also boasts a Greenline II engine offering lower emissions and exception fuel consumption, for example the economical four cylinder 1.6 TDI diesel engine produces just 119g/km of C02 and a combine fuel economy of 61.4 mpg.
Amongst the choices of accessories and optional extras available to further personalise your Yeti are Bluetooth, Cruise Control and Park Assist which will help alleviate the stress of parking on a busy street.
The ŠKODA Yeti has a string of awards under its belt including Auto Express 'Car of the Year', Auto Express 'Best Crossover and Auto Express Driver Power Award.
