TYRE INFORMATION
Tyres are one of your vehicle's most important components
They're the only part of your vehicle that connects it to the ground it's driving on and the efficiency with which they do clearly therefore has a direct bearing on safety.
That's why, at Park's we're committed to bringing you the best possible value for money when it comes to keeping your tyres in tip top condition. From brand names to budget and economy tyres, our prices are designed to ensure that whist you never pay over the odds, you never compromise on quality or safety either.
The minimum tyre depth is 1.6mm and the recommended minimum is 3mm. This should account for 75% of the breadth of the tyre around the entire circumference.
Safety and economy
Check your tyre pressure regularly. Under inflated tyres use more fuel and produce more CO2 emisssions and illegal tyres can result in fines of £2500 and 3 penalty points for each illegal tyre.
What's an illegal tyre?
Any tyre which fails the 1.6mm test (above) is illegal and must be replaced immediately. However, a cut in excess of 25mm or 10% of the section width of the tyre, whichever is the greater, measured in any direction on the outside of the tyre and deep enough to reach the ply or cord would deem the tyre illegal.
Also, if there is any cut in the tyre no matter how small which exposes cords, then the tyre is illegal.
This is not exhaustive. For expert advice on how to stay safe and legal, visit any of our service department and if you are in any doubt, please contact us for a free tyre assessment.
