Land Rover Introduces Advances Ingenium Engine to Discovery Sport

Following THE successful launch of the Land Rover Discovery Sport in September, 2014, Land Rover is issuing the vehicle range with newly-developed Ingenium engines. These will provide higher levels of performance as well as improved emissions, and will offer motorists an exemplary level of fuel economy too.

Director of Land Rover Programmes Murray Dietsch said of the improved engine technology: "Land Rover's new family of Ingenium engines is truly class-leading. By introducing it to the Discovery Sport, we can now offer enhanced fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions, while improving overall performance. The Ingenium engine confirms the Discovery Sport's position as the most versatile and capable compact premium SUV in the world".

Formed of a lightweight construction alongside stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors, the Ingenium engine has been developed to reduce noise and vibration while in use. The engines will deliver a combined fuel consumption of 57.7mpg, and CO2 emissions of 129g/km.

Land Rover's Ingenium engines are produced within the UK at the Land Rover Engine Manufacturing Centre in the West Midlands. From here, Land Rover has the capacity to produce 450,000 Ingenium engines in a single year.
