Assembled on a wheelbase 0.8 inches longer, the new Soul is also 0.6 inches wider and – as a result of more high-tensile steel used in the 2014 design – is 29 per cent more robust than the previous model. The retuned suspension in the front and rear ensure a better drive and the car features improved interior that includes a great deal of additional space on top of an abundance of new technology such as an eight-inch touchscreen and new infotainment system that incorporates 'Pandora' – an internet radio service.
While this model remains distinctly a Soul from the front, the vehicles rear end is considerably different than that of its counterpart. An enlarged tailgate is distinguished by black glass that progresses seamlessly into gloss black trim that bounds the back end and borders the larger LED taillights, making the new 2014 Soul more upmarket than before.
Inside, head and legroom and boot space have increased while additional NVH resources have been used in the door hollows to reduce the amount of wind and road noise. Into the bargain Kia have also expended an isolation pad and layered carpet to further decrease noise levels by three decibels, keeping exterior noise to an absolute minimum and making for a truly comfortable drive.
Buyers of the 2014 Kia Soul can choose between three different roof colours – black, white and red, as well as 11 exterior paint options.
