Ninety years in the making, the R nineT has been created to commemorate BMW's outstanding legacy of top-notch motorcycles. Embodying everything that biking represents – freedom, adventure and a devil-may-care attitude – this model takes elements from the German manufacturer's illustrious history and repackages them for the modern age.
The R nineT could be described as a tribute to the so-called “café racers" of the 1950s, and the engine captures this spirit perfectly. Its 1,170cc capacity, air-cooled Boxer twin unit outputs up to 110bhp, with 119Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. As any rider will know, however, it's not all about power. The R nineT also boasts a superb ride, with modern innovations like the Paralever suspension at the rear serving to smooth out any bumps in the road.
The instrument panel features a retro-style speedometer and rev counter, creating that authentic classic bike experience, while the bike's unique modular frame allows for a variety of customisations such as exhaust placement, pillion seat and cover.
The look of the R nineT is very much a throwback to yesteryear, with refreshing simplicity of design enabling you to concentrate on the ride experience. Traditional materials are used throughout, while modern touches such as twin-stacked exhaust pipes blend seamlessly into the overall body shape.
The R nineT proves that you can still experience an old-school thrill without endangering yourself or your passenger. With ABS as standard, the brake system features 320mm four-piston radial callipers at the front with 265mm double-piston floating callipers at the rear. The result is a short stopping distance and reliable handling on the road.
The BMW R nineT represents the culmination of nine decades of precision engineering. For more information, or to book a test ride, contact Parks BMW today.
