Bentley Mulsanne Speed ‘Blue Train’ Debuts at Techno-Classica

To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the historic 'Blue Train' race, Bentley is producing a limited run of vehicles to mark the occasion. Four vehicles will be produced by the company, and will be hand-crafted by Bentley in Crewe.

The race originally took place in 1930, and was a result of the Chairman of Bentley Motors, Captain Woolf Barnato, placing a bet on his Bentley vehicle versus the Calais-Mediterranée Express. He succeeded in travelling from Calais to London before the train - also known as the 'Blue Train' - had reached the English Channel, and his achievement is still being celebrated to this day.

Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, is in charge of producing the limited edition Mulsanne Speed Blue Train vehicle. References to the race and its historical period are worked throughout the car, and many design features are directly inspired by the original Speed Six vehicle.

The first of the four vehicles will come complete with a personalised hamper, featuring Burnt Oak and Camel hide trim to match the Mulsanne Speed Blue Train itself. Cutlery, cutlery holders, crockery, champagne flutes and a Scottish Angora picnic rug are also included in this exclusive collection.
